Virginia Beach, VA – Worker Injured in Fall Accident on Outerbridge Quay

Written by: Virginia Beach Injury Law

Virginia Beach, VA (February 2, 2021) – One person was hospitalized following a workplace accident in the Virginia Beach area on Tuesday morning. Just after 9:40 a.m., on February 2, the Virginia Beach Police Department and firefighters were called to assist at the site of an accident on Outerbridge Quay in the Charlestowne Lakes South area.

Reports from authorities show that a maintenance worker was performing duties of their job at a sewage pump house located in the 900 block of Outerbridge Quay. For unknown reasons, the man fell down approximately 30-feet into the dry well.

The Virginia Beach Fire Department’s Technical Recuse Team was able to immobilize the man in order to extricate him from the well while using a haul system coupled with a confined space immobilization device. The man was then transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for the treatment of injuries. At this time, the cause of the incident remains under investigation.

Our thoughts are with the man who was injured in this accident. We hope for his fast and full recovery.
