Virginia Beach, VA – Victims Hurt in Car Crash on I-264 at Witchduck Rd

Written by: Virginia Beach Injury Law

Virginia Beach, VA (June 17, 2022) – Late Friday evening, June 17, Virginia Beach Police officers were sent to the scene of an automobile crash on Interstate 264 near the Witchduck Road exit.

At around 11:45 p.m., VBPD officers and Virginia State Police troopers responded to the eastbound lanes of Interstate 264 near mile marker 15.5, just east of Exit 16 to Witchduck Road. When the cops came, they found that two passenger cars had collided in the right lanes.

In addition, Virginia Beach medics went to the scene of the accident and brought all wounded individuals by ambulance to the Virginia Beach General Hospital for further treatment. However, neither the overall number of injuries nor the nature of those injuries was made public at this time.

Authorities are still investigating the events leading up to the collision and have not disclosed any more information. The inquiry is still ongoing at the time.

Our hearts go out to all who have been hurt as a result of this wreck. We wish them all the best in their recovery.

Multiple-Car Collisions and Injuries in Virginia Beach

According to statistics recently provided by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, the number of fatalities on Virginia’s roads in 2021 increased by about 15% compared to the same time period in 2020. In addition to these deaths, statistics from the previous year showed that over 160 people were injured in traffic accidents in Virginia every day.

Even if accident rates have fallen in certain parts of the country and in Virginia, it is evident that incidents like these are much too prevalent. Despite the fact that the vast majority of vehicle accidents are avoidable and that driver recklessness is often at fault, victims who suffer injuries or die as a result of a car accident pay a high price.

Those who are lucky enough to survive these horrific incidents may have long-term medical challenges, such as whiplash and muscular strains, as well as emotional anguish for months or even years. Automobile accident victims have a long path to recovery due to the severity of their injuries, which may range from catastrophic scarring or loss of function to spine fractures and severe brain injuries.

Thousands of victims have been left with injuries that prevent them from returning to work or simply returning to their usual routines and day-to-day lives. To make matters worse, victims may be compelled to pay for their own losses while simultaneously negotiating with insurance companies or dealing with uninsured motorists. When victims die as a result of their injuries, their bereaved families are left to pick up the pieces, which may include thousands of dollars in lost income, unpaid medical bills, and funeral expenses.

However, if you or a loved one was wounded in an accident that was not your fault, you may be entitled to seek legal redress. If you or a member of your family has been injured as a result of another motorist’s irresponsible driving, you and your family should contact a Virginia Beach car accident attorney.
