Written by: Virginia Beach Injury Law

Virginia Beach, VA (June 10, 2022) – A multiple-vehicle collision, which took place near mile marker 19.9 on westbound Interstate 264, shut down a substantial portion of the busy roadway on the evening of June 10, Friday night.

Just before 8:55 p.m., the Virginia State Police were sent to the incident site. According to authorities, a two-vehicle collision happened in the westbound lanes of Interstate 264 at the Lynnhaven Parkway exit.

In the right lane of traffic, a passenger car reportedly collided with another vehicle as the driver attempted to merge. VSP authorities believe that a third vehicle was involved, although the total number of injuries remains unknown. Those who were wounded were either treated immediately at the scene or sent to a local hospital for additional care.

VSP has issued a statement stating that an inquiry into the traffic crash has been initiated.

Those who have been hurt as a result of this crash have our best wishes for a full recovery.

Injuries Reported in Virginia Beach Multi-Vehicle Wrecks

Approximately one thousand people were killed in motor vehicle accidents in the Commonwealth of Virginia over the preceding year. Sixty-five thousand more people have been critically wounded as a consequence of these accidents. Worse, victims usually suffer from the physical and emotional repercussions of the trauma they endured for an extended length of time after the first incident.

Even worse, the majority of auto accidents in Virginia are caused by one of the following forms of negligent driving:

  • Speeding is responsible for more than half of all fatal incidents in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • More than a third of all fatal automobile accidents in the state are caused by drivers who get behind the wheel while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Distracted driving, such as sending or reading text messages while driving, is an additional significant factor.

While you should make every effort to ensure your safety and the safety of others while driving, you cannot always depend on other drivers to do the same. Regrettably, regardless of the root causes of these accidents, tens of thousands of people are left unable to return to work or their normal lives.

In the vast majority of cases, these individuals need ongoing medical care and rehabilitation that may last months or years. As a result, victims may be required to pay tens of thousands of dollars out of their own pockets.

Therefore, if you are injured in an automobile accident that was not your fault, you may be eligible for compensation. You and your family are strongly encouraged to contact a seasoned accident attorney in the Norfolk region immediately.
