Written by: Virginia Beach Injury Law

Virginia Beach, VA (May 25, 2022) – On the evening of Wednesday, May 25, a multi-vehicle incident shut down a portion of eastbound Interstate 264 at mile marker 19.9.

At around 9:25 p.m., the Virginia State Police were sent to the scene of the incident. Officers reported that there had been a collision involving two vehicles in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 264 near the exit for Lynnhaven Parkway (Exit 19).

Initial reports indicate that a passenger car and another vehicle collided in the right lanes of traffic. The authorities from VSP believe that there may have been a third vehicle involved, though it is unknown how many people were injured. Those affected either received treatment at the scene of the incident or were sent to a hospital in the area for further care.

VSP issued a statement confirming that their inquiry is now underway.

Our thoughts are with the individuals who were harmed as a result of this crash. We hope that they will continue to make progress in their rehabilitation.

Multi-Vehicle Accident Injuries in Virginia

Accidents involving motor vehicles claimed the lives of around one thousand people in the Commonwealth of Virginia over the preceding year. The tragic aftermath of these collisions is that another 65,000 people sustain serious injuries. Even worse, victims typically continue to suffer from the aftereffects of the trauma they suffered, both physically and emotionally, for a long time after the initial event.

Even worse, the majority of motor vehicle collisions in Virginia are caused by one of the following forms of negligent driving:

  • Excessive speed is the key factor that contributes to about one-half of all fatal incidents that take place in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
  • Over one-third of all fatal vehicle accidents that take place in the state are caused by drivers who were under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Another leading cause is distracted driving, including sending or reading texts while operating a motor vehicle.

While you should make every effort to keep yourself and others safe while driving, you cannot guarantee that other drivers will act in a responsible way. Unfortunately, regardless of the main causes of these accidents, they leave tens of thousands of people with injuries that prevent them from returning to the workforce or resuming their normal day-to-day lives.

The vast majority of the time, these victims are in need of ongoing medical treatment as well as therapy that might last for a number of months or even years. As a direct result of this, victims may be obliged to pay tens of thousands of dollars out of their own pocket.

That’s why, if you are injured in an accident that was not your fault, you may be entitled to seek compensation for your injuries. It is highly recommended that you and your loved ones get in contact with a qualified accident attorney in the Norfolk region as soon as you can. Attorney Ron Kramer II of Virginia Beach Injury Law has worked diligently to guarantee that victims and the families of those victims get the justice to which they are legally entitled.
