Virginia Beach, VA (July 29, 2021) – Officers with the Virginia Beach Police Department say that they are investigating a crash that happened in the 400 block of Princess Anne Road on Tuesday evening, July 27.

VBPD officers say they were dispatched to the scene around 7:00 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered that the incident was a head-on crash, where a Kia Optima driving northbound veered into southbound lanes and collided with a Chevy Equinox.

Two people were transported to the hospital via ambulance. One of the victims, identified as 38-year-old Elizabeth Ann Teller, succumbed to her injuries en route to an area medical center. The other victim, who was not identified, reportedly sustained serious injuries. They are still hospitalized and an update on their current condition was not provided. It’s unclear if anyone else suffered injuries in the wreck.

Princess Anne Road was shut down between Fitztown Road and Back Bay Landing Road for several hours as police conducted the on-scene portion of their investigation. The investigation is ongoing at this time, however, and further details have not been released.

Our deepest condolences go out to the family of Elizabeth Ann Teller. Our thoughts are with the injured victims in hopes of a full recovery.
