Suffolk, VA (August 11, 2021) – Dispatchers in Suffolk said that one person was transported to an area medical center after a crash that occurred on Monday afternoon, August 9.

First responders and officers with the Suffolk Police Department were called to the scene at the 700 block of East Washington Street around 1:15 p.m. for a two-vehicle accident. According to initial reports, the crash involved a passenger vehicle and an SUV. The SUV went off the roadway and hit a power pole after an initial collision with the sedan.

The 700 block of East Washington Street was still closed three hours later in both directions as Dominion Energy crews worked to repair the damaged pole. Police said that one person involved in the accident was taken to the hospital via ambulance for further treatment, though officials didn’t share how seriously the person was injured.

Police officers are still investigating the cause of the accident.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery.
