Suffolk, VA (August 23, 2021) – Officers with the Suffolk Police Department are investigating a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle that occurred on Sunday afternoon, August 22.

Officials were dispatched around 2:00 p.m. to the scene at the intersection of Route 17 and Route 664. The accident involved a motorcycle and an SUV that collided in the area. The motorcyclist, identified as 60-year-old Robert Mitchell Harrell, Jr., was pronounced dead at the scene.

Southbound Route 17 was closed for an extended period of time as police conducted the on-scene portion of their investigation.

Police are continuing to investigate and have not released further details about those involved or the events leading up to the wreck. It’s unclear if citations or charges are pending at this time.
