The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that seatbelt use alone can cut major injuries and death by more than half when an automobile is in an accident. Car accidents can result in a wide range of outcomes depending on their details. Car accidents can be mild to completely devastating. There are more than six million car accidents that happen every year across the country and each time you drive you are putting yourself at risk for an accident. Recent Automobile Manufacturer Recalls

General Motors has recently released recalls on several pickup trucks and other SUV’s due to improperly installed seat belt brackets. According to GM, there are some vehicles in their lineup whose seat belt brackets aren’t secured the way that they should be, and because of this, they won’t provide the protection expected should an accident take place. It is believed up to 624,000 cars could have the seat belt problem. Included in the recall were the following automobiles:

  • Chevrolet Silverado models manufactured during 2019 and 2020;
  • GMC Sierra models manufactured during 2019 and 2020;
  • Chevrolet Suburban manufactured in 2021;
  • Chevrolet Tahoe manufactured in 2021;
  • GMC Yukon manufactured in 2021;
  • Silverado 2500 and 3500 manufactured in 2021;
  • GMC Sierra 2500 and 3500 manufactured in 2021.

Typically, when a car manufacturer is made aware of an issue with their vehicles, they will send out notices to consumers about the problem. Included in this notification will be instructions on what steps to take to have the consumer’s cars inspected and fixed or have parts replaced where necessary. Anyone who receives a recall notice should take the document seriously and follow the instructions for having their vehicle checked out.  Doing so keeps you and everyone around you safe from potential harm or deadly outcomes.
