Norfolk, VA (May 19, 2022) – On Thursday night, May 19, a multi-vehicle incident shut down an entry ramp on westbound U.S. Highway 60.

According to police, a sedan was involved in an accident with another vehicle in the right lanes of traffic. According to VSP officials, a third car may have been involved. It’s not known how many individuals were hurt, but they were all treated at the site or sent to a nearby hospital for further medical attention.

In a statement, VSP confirmed that their investigation is underway. At this point, they haven’t offered any other information.

The victims who were hurt in this accident are in our thoughts. We wish them the best of luck in their recovery.

Multi-Vehicle Accident Causing Injuries in Virginia

In the Commonwealth of Virginia, about one thousand persons lost their lives as a result of being involved in motor vehicle accidents in the prior year. The unfortunate result of these crashes is that another 65,000 victims suffer severe injuries. Even worse, long after an accident, victims often continue to suffer from the aftereffects of the trauma they experienced, both physical and emotional. Moreover, the victims of these devastating events may have to deal with significant restrictions going forward.

Adding insult to injury, most Virginia car accidents happen as a result of the below types of driver negligence:

  • The primary contributor to approximately half of all fatal accidents that take place in the Commonwealth of Virginia is excessive speed.
  • Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is a contributing factor in over one-third of all fatal car accidents that take place in the state.
  • Distracted driving, which includes texting while behind the wheel, is responsible for a large swath of statewide traffic crashes.

While you should make every effort to keep yourself and others safe while driving, you cannot ensure that other drivers will behave in a responsible manner. Unfortunately, as a result of these mishaps, tens of thousands of individuals are left with injuries that render them unable to work.

The majority of the time, these victims are in need of continued medical care and counseling that might endure for months or even years. As a direct consequence of this, victims can be required to pay tens of thousands of dollars out of their own personal funds.

However, if you are hurt in an accident that was not your fault, you may be able to seek compensation. You and your loved ones should get in touch with a car accident lawyer in the Norfolk area. It is imperative that you get in touch with a lawyer as soon as possible following your injury. In the event that you are entitled to compensation, a fair, full monetary award could assist you in covering the costs associated with your situation.
