Norfolk, VA – Multi-Vehicle Collision, Injuries on I-64 at Hampton Bridge Tunnel

Norfolk, VA (June 20, 2022) – A complaint of a multi-driver accident was received by Norfolk Police on the evening of Monday, June 20.

The Norfolk Fire & Rescue Department and Norfolk Police Department were among the first responders to the accident site. The incident happened at 7:30 p.m. in the westbound lanes of Interstate 64 near the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel, according to emergency responders on the scene. Despite the fact that the reason for the accident is unclear, the NPD reported that all lanes were closed for an hour after the first collision.

At least one victim was brought to a local hospital by emergency medical services for additional treatment; however, the extent of that victim’s injuries is unclear at this time.

Per officers’ reports, the investigation into the events leading up to the incident is still underway. Anyone who saw the accident or has information that might help the investigation should call the NPD as soon as possible.
