Norfolk, VA (January 11, 2021) – An accident reported in the Norfolk area claimed the life of one man on Sunday evening. At around 4 p.m., on January 10, emergency crews were called to the scene of a crash on Interstate 64.
Reports from the Virginia State Police show that 26-year-old Michael Maurice Sandford was riding a 2016 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle when his vehicle collided with a 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse in the middle lanes of the highway near Exit 279B for Norview Avenue.
The ride was ejected from his motorcycle and thrown into a guard rail along the side of the highway. Sandford was fatally injured in the accident and died at the scene. State police arrived and pronounced the man deceased. At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
