Reports show that Deonte R Mason, a worker with the Service Safety Patrol, stopped his vehicle along the side of Interstate 664 to assist the driver of a disabled vehicle. As Mason was walking back to his vehicle, which was positioned near the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel, his vehicle was struck by a 2016 Cadillac CTS4.

The impact of the crash sent Mason’s vehicle into Mason, pinning him to the wall. Mason sustained serious injuries in the crash. He was transported to Riverside Regional Hospital for the treatment of injuries. At this time, the crash remains under investigation.

Our thoughts are with Deonte R Mason and his family at this time.
