James City Co., VA (October 29, 2020) – A motorcycle accident reported on Wednesday morning claimed the lives of two victims. At around 7 a.m., on October 28, the police in James City County responded to the scene of a crash on Olde Stage Road.
According to reports provided by local news sources, a Chevrolet work truck was driving west on Olde Stage Road. As the driver attempted to make a left turn onto Barnes Road, the vehicle collided with a motorcycle. The impact of the crash caused the motorcycle to catch on fire.
The driver of the motorcycle, identified as 22-year-old Tyler Scott Hybiak, was fatally injured in the crash. Authorities pronounced the man deceased at the scene. His passenger, 20-year-old McKenzy Meade, was transported to VCU Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the truck, identified as 57-year-old Hernando Velasquez, was not injured in the crash. However, he was cited for failure to yield. At this time, investigations surrounding the crash are underway.
