Written by: Virginia Beach Injury Law

Hampton, VA (October 28, 2020) – A young child lost their life following a dog attack early Monday morning. At around 3:15 a.m., on October 26, the Hampton Police were called to the site of an incident on Scotland Road.

Reports from authorities show that an infant was sleeping at a home located in the first block of Scotland Road when they were attacked by a dog. The dog caused extensive injuries to the child. The father of the child immediately euthanized the dog. However, the severity of the injuries was too severe. The child ended up passing away as a result.

Authorities arrived at the scene and began investigating the incident. At this time, investigations surrounding the cause of the attack are underway.

Our team would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the victim who lost their lives in this incident. Our thoughts are with them at this time.

Fatal Premises Liability Incidents in Virginia

Every year, over one million people seek medical treatment after being attacked by dogs in the United States. Many attacks result in the need for extensive and costly medical treatment. Numerous victims sustain severe cuts and bruises and have to go through surgery and months of medical treatment for their injuries. Small children are particularly vulnerable to sustaining critical injuries due to their sizes. Although we would like to think that everyone is able to recover from their injuries, many people end up passing away.

Depending on the circumstances surrounding the accident, families may have legal venues that they are able to take to obtain compensation to help alleviate some of the financial burdens they face related to funerals, lost wages, and other costs they face moving forward. Although no amount of money can even alleviate the pain and suffering families are forced to endure, having the financial resources necessary to cover the financial burdens families face after an unexpected loss can help to reduce some of the stress you and your family are forced to endure. Working with a knowledgeable wrongful death attorney in the Virginia Beach area will ensure families are able to protect their legal rights and best interests.
